Letter regarding Pelly's decisive actions against the Wahabees [Wahhabi] and proceedings at Bahrein [Bahrain] along with the effect they are having on Bombay pearl merchants.

The letter goes on to discuss Fysul [Faisal ibn Turki al Sa'ud]'s death and the improved political position of Syed Thowenee [Sayyid Thuwaini bin Said].

The letter also gives news from Aden of action to be taken against the Findhlee Chief; Sir John Lawrence's policies as Viceroy of India and his desire not to provide financial aid to Muscat; appointments at Baroda; a new publication on Central Asia by Mr Michel; Pelly's report on his mission to Riyah [Riyadh]; and the threat of an attack on Gwadur [Gwadar] by Persia.
