Private letter regarding a possible appointment for Lieutenant Charles Edward Yate and promising not to relocate him until a replacement for him has been found as well as explaining his reasons for wanting him.

The letter goes on to discuss affairs with Major Charles Kenneth Mackenzie Walter; Pelly's meeting with the Viceroy (Thomas George Baring, 2nd Baron Northbrook); Colonel Alexander Ross Elliot Hutchinson's likely return to England in the Spring and asking whether Carnell would like to be recommended for the vacancy, should it occur.
