Covering letter with an enclosure: letter no.2968 of 1852 (f 128) from Malet to Major Atkins Hamerton, HM's Consul and HC's Agent in the Dominions of His Highness the Imam of Muscat, dated 3 July 1852. In the enclosure, Malet writes with reference to the recent grounding and plunder of the British ship Centaur off the Muscat coast. Malet requests from Major Hamerton any information he can procure on who carries responsibility for the incident, as well as details of relations between the Beni boo Ali tribe [Bani bu Ali, who carried out the plunder of the vessel] and the Imam of Muscat.
