The letter and its enclosure relate to an earlier act of piracy committed by subjects of Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi] against a boat from Bahrain. Jones writes that the sum of 3,450 Kronees has been paid by the Shaikh of Abu Dhabi, to Commodore Ethersey, Commanding Officer Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. Squadron. Enclosed with Jones’s letter is the purport of a letter (folio 160) from Jones to the British Agent at Bahrain, Hajee Jassim [Hajjī Jāsim], dated 30 December 1855, with instructions for the distribution of the financial compensation at Bahrain.
