One final point on this subject. It would in
my opinion be a very great mistake and quite useless if
the Government of India were to expect the Persians to
share any part of the cost of removing the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. .
It appears to me to be one of those cases in which a
Government has to cut the loss. it. might well be
possible to sell some of the houses including the
Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. at Sabzubad or to reserve by agreement one or
more of them for the occupation of .British. Officers and
personnel in the Naval service of the Persian Government
should the recent proposals of the minister of Court
materialise. hut it is obvious in any case that a
considerable financial loss would have to be faced. 1
have the impression, however, that it might not be

The very fact of the Government of India being
willing to move the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. should be highly appreciat
ed by the Persian Government as an act of special friend
liness and sympathy with present-day Persian aspirations,
and once a decision is come to I would propose to empha
sise this forcibly to the minister of Court, but I trust
the decision will not be long delayed. l have the
impression that even if the removal of the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. does
