Baghdad
(2) A continuation of this line from Julfa to Tabriz and
thence to Teheran through Kazvin. The country between
Tabriz and Teheran is by no means easy for const ruction.
(3) A continuation from Teheran or Kazvin through Hamadan
and Kermanshah to join the German Baghdad Railway to
Khanikin on the Turkish frontier.
(4) A line across the plateau from Teheran to Ispahan.
(5) A line from Teheran through North Persia to Meshed
and an extension through there to join the Trans-Caspian
near Merv.
Gome of these lines would have a special
strategical value, as for instance that with which it is
proposed to join the Baghdad Railway at Khanikin.
This would afford a means of access for Russian
Troops to reach Baghdad and the Tigris Valley and
eventually |0l the head of the
Persian Gulf
