vvi-tn reference to your letter of February 16th
laet (p 557/^6) respecting the proposed increase in the
consular escorts at Bushire and at Bunder Abbas, and the
provision of a Ford mo tar car for the use of the consulate-
general at Bushire, I em directed by Secretary sir Austen
Chamberlain to state, for the information of the Secretary
of State for India in Council, that the Lords Commissioners
of Eis Majesty’s Treasury have sanctioned the charge to
Imperial Funds of a moiety of the additional expenditure
involved, the amount of which They desire to lea.rn in due
course.
2. Their Lordships observe that They would have been
gla,d if these proposals could have been accompanied by some
estimate of the cost involved. They have, however,
sanctioned the outlay in view of the urgency of bringing
the revised arrangements into effect, and of the saving to
Imperial Funds effected by the withdrawal of the British
Indian troops from the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
