always felt on their account. After a long discussion it w 7 as resolved that the
sons of Mahomed Azim Khan should not be deported at present, but, as Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division.
Mahomed Shureef Khan desires to go to Mecca, he should be permitted to go
to that place, and not discouraged by being deported from Cabul; but the
British Government should be secretly solicited to keep him under surveillance
as soon as he enters their kingdom, in order that he may not be able to stir up
disturbances in future in Afghanistan. They further proposed that the three
sons of Mahomed Azim Khan should be deported when a suitable opportunity
occurs, and Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Government to collect news, he is at liberty to go to any direction he may wash.
The chiefs and other people of Toorkistan have sent a petition to the
Ameer complaining about their sufferings from the drought of the season and
famine, and stating that they would be entirely ruined unless some remission
were made in their land revenue. Though no reply has yet been given, it
appears that no attention w 7 ill be paid to their petition, because similar distress
is prevalent in Cabul, Candahar, and Herat Provinces, and great loss has conse
quently been sustained in Government revenue, while the expenses of the
army have not in any w 7 ay decreased. Owing to the income being less than the
expenditure, the Cabul authorities feel anxiety.
The Ameer has sent a message to the Agent that, during His Highness’s
