The file contains correspondence related to a claim for exemption from taxation by Muhammad bin Subah, leader of the Al Bin Ali tribe. The correspondence is between the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain (Charles Dalrymple Belgrave), the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain, and the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. . Further correspondence, included as enclosures, is from Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah [Shaikh Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah] and other members of the Al Bin Ali tribe.
