Article I.
The Kuolnamah entered into on the 1st Jumadee-ool-Awul, Hijree
1213 (12th October 1798), by the Imaum Synd Sultan, through Nuwab
Etmandood Duola Mehdy Ali Khan Bahadoor Hushmunt Jung, remains
fixed and in full force.
Article ii.
As improper reports, of a tendency to interrupt the existing harmony,
and create misunderstanding between the two States, have gone abroad,
and have been communicated to the Right Honorable the Governor
General, the Earl of Mornington, K.P., with a view to prevent such
evils in future, we, actuated by sentiments of reciprocal friendship,
agree that an English gentleman of respectability, on the part of the
Honorable Company, shall always reside at the port of Muskat, and be
an Agent through whom all intercourse between the States shall be
conducted, in order that the actions of each Government may be fairly
and justly stated, and that no opportunity may be afforded to designing
men, who are ever eager to promote dissensions ; and that the friend
ship of the two States may remain unshaken till the end of time, and
till the sun and moon have finished their revolving career.

Physical characteristics

Pagination: two separate pagination sequences are present in the volume. The first sequence (pp. i-xviii) commences at the first page and terminates at the list of maps (p. xviii). A second pagination sequence then takes over (pp. 1-688), commencing at the title page and terminating at the final page. Both these pagination sequences are printed, with additions in pencil, and the numbers are found at the top (left, right or centre) of each page.
