Reference my telegram No.319 of 9th April 1941 on
the subject of Shahuh/ Qawasim One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. /Diba situation.
2. I to enclose copy (with translation) of a
letter which I received from the Hegent of Kalba when T
was actually replying to Muscat telegram. According to
independent enquiries made by me which were subsequently
conxiamed oy the Regent o- Kalba, the people of Wadi A seasonal or intermittent watercourse, or the valley in which it flows. T.Tadhah
(consisting of three villages - Madhah, Ghuna and Hayar
Bani Hamid) in the Shamaliyah District appealed to Shaikh
Humaid bin 'Abdullah, v /hen the trouble first broke out at
.Dioa, for saie conduct and protection which was granted
to them through the Shaikh of Fujairah. Being afraid of
the Shahuh they pressed Shaikh Humaid bin 'Abdullah for
men to protect them. This was given to them when Humaid
v/as on nis ijay to Kalba on 30th March. He sent few men
oO each iila^e and re-established the Oawasim authority
over* -hat area which, n or many years past, was under the
influence o the Shahuh on account of the /awasim waekness.
3. The ohahuh sent a messenger to Dubai from where he
v-ent to Abu Dhaoi asking for help. It is unlikely that
they would be able to get any help from these two Shaikhdoms.
