This file contains correspondence between the British Political Agents at Bahrain and Kuwait; the Secretary and Under Secretary to the British Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. at Bushire; Charles Dalrymple Belgrave, Advisor to the Bahrain Government; Claude C L de Grenier, Director of Customs and Ports Officer, Bahrain; and Deputy Manager, Mesopotamia and Persia Corporation Limited.

The correspondence of 1934 (ff. 1-13) concerns the question of whether mislanded cargo at Bahrain is non-dutiable and enquiries made to the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. at Bushire and Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. at Kuwait about procedure in those places and at Basrah (ff. 6, 8-9 and 12-13). The correspondence of 1941 concerns the auction of effects of two dead Norwegian sailors and, more generally, the auction of goods that have lain in Customs uncleared for six months or longer (f. 14).
