Letter regarding some confusion that had been caused by some letters and telegrams which had not been delivered to Lyall.
The letter also details Lyall's understanding of the arrangements for Pelly handing over the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. to him and regarding his intention to travel to Jeypore [Jaipur] now that his wife has arrived there.
The letter further discusses the Ulwar [Ulwa] succession which has not yet been settled and his initial thoughts on Percy William Powlett whom he met at Agra and his intention to continue the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. 's business as it is unless Pelly wished him to attempt any improvements.
