Letter inviting Pelly to come and visit him if his health does not improve; and expressing his hopes that Lord Mayo, the new Viceroy, will be able to press for clearer policy with regard to Muscat.
The letter goes on to discuss Syud Nusser's [Said Nasir bin Thuwaini] establishment at Gwadur [Gwadar]; the need for the question of the eastern frontier of Persia to be defined; Colonel Robert Phayre having rushed headlong into a trap at Kelat whilst attempting to solicit British support against the Khan, and Merewether having sent Charles Henry Harrison there to handle matters.
