Sheikhs. In making their agreement with the Gulf Oil
Company the A.P-.O.C. had had in mind the protection
of their own interests (in which they haa, he thought,
been very successful) ana not those of the Sheikh of
Koweit and it might embarrass H.L'#G. in advising the
Sheikh if they had previously seen the agreement
reached between the A.P-.O.G. ana the Gulf Oil Company*
From our standpoint it would no doubt be satisfactory
ii the Sheikh received a substantial yearly sum,
irrespective of whether the concession was actively
operated or not. draft oil concession would, of
course, be shown at once to H*M.G«3
