My dear Ball, ' \ J
I don't knowj^i»ther you are now dealing with
Lermitte's demi-official correspondence, but if you are
would you please refer to ray demi-official letter No.
1479-8/2 dated the 28th April 1947, to him; if not, would
you kindly pass this letter on to whoever should receive it ?
. ?* I have received in an envelope, presumably from
Lermitte, copies of Hickinbotham's demi-official letter No.
G/406 of the 29th February 1944, and Packers demi-official
letter No.3648 dated.the 27th February, 1944, being the
correspondence referred to in paragraph 1 of my letter quoted
I am afraid I cannot regard Hickinbotham 1 s undertaking given
in 1944 as binding on myself in this matter; since it is one
thing to facilitate* the supply of liquor to a limited number
and quite another to accept a permanent commitment without
any such limit. I must, therefore, make it clear to you that
P.C.L. should not rely upon anything from the Bahrain quota
for their staff in Qatar for the coming quarter.
Yours sincerely.
Id. C.J.Felly.
