Letter congratulating Pelly on his settling of the Bunder Abbass [Bandar ‘Abbās] matter and informing Pelly that he has ordered copies of Edward Charles Ross's reports to be sent to him and asking for his thoughts on their worth or otherwise.
The letter goes on to discuss the situation on the (Indian) frontier and Colonel Robert Phayre's handling of it; news regarding Afghanistan; the impact of furlough rules on filling appointments; and encouraging Pelly to come on to him at Kurachee [Karachi] from Gwadar to discuss affairs, in particular the expansion of the telegraph to Jask and recent Persian movements.
