Letter regarding correspondence between Colonel John Cheape Brooke and the Government of India regarding the appointment of Mr Keane as manager of certain wards estates in Rajputana [Rājasthān], his subsequent removal from that post and the censure of Captain Herbert Mills Repton over the matter. The letter goes on to ask Pelly's thoughts on the merits of the case and outlining the rules on appointments of uncovenanted members of the civil service, which should be natives of India, and asking Pelly to bear those rules in mind when making appointment recommendations or patronages.
