In this letter, Edward Galley, Resident at Bushire, is informed that his letters of 20 February and 30 March 1783 have been received. The letter also states that the Viper Cutter, which is proceeding to Bussora [Basra] with packets for the Honourable Company, is not to be detained on any account. Enclosed with the letter is an extract from the Honourable Company's commands, dated 12 July 1782.
