In this letter William Digges Latouche discusses the expedition of Ismael Aga, Mussaleem During the eighteenth century this was the third most powerful official in Ottoman Iraq (after the Pasha and the Kiya). The title was given specifically to the Governor of Basra. of Bussora [Basra], against the Chaub [Bani Ka'ab]. He reports that Ismael Aga is assisted by Shaikh Twiney of the Montifiks [Shaikh Thuwayni of the Muntafiq] and by Shaik Abdulla of Grain [Kuwait].
