In this letter, Arnold Burrowes Kemball, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , encloses a letter (not included), which is to be forwarded to the Sheik of Charrack [Shaikh of Bandar-e Chārak] on board the Queen, one of the Honourable Company's steam frigates. Kemball states that the Sheikh has countenanced an act of piracy on the part of his followers in the capture and plunder of a buteel belonging to the Beni Humad tribe, for which he has hitherto withheld redress. Kemball writes that he is about to submit a reference to Her Majesty's Minister at Tehran, Justin Sheil, for the authority to enforce the Sheikh's compliance with his demand. He states that the enclosed letter is an attempt to affect a final remonstrance upon the Chief.
