at the very Moirient it fliould have been put in Execution.
For he was already half Tipfy, when one of the Kings Pages,
who was one of his Creatures, as he prefented him the Cup,
and feem'd to Bow to him out of refpeft, whifper'd to him :
Sir, Ton will be Murder d At which he made no femblance of
being daunted 5 but rifing up, as foon as he had giv'n back the
Glafs, and pretending to go out to make Water (which is no
Indecorum in that Country, where the Feafts lad for half a Day
together) he ran diredly to his Stable, takes a Bonnet and a

of the beft Horfes in the Stable, Mounts him and away he
Rides. And he fo orderd his Flight, that not being difcovei"d
it provd fucceisful to his VVifh. Prefently he got to
where he threw himfelf at the Feet of Ahas the Great, who
was newly return'd a Viftor, from Shir van and Shamahj,
Countries Bordering upon Geo and the Cafvian He
declard to the King how he had fetv'd and the De-
ceas'd King his Father, and what a recompence he had prepard
him for his Service j by feeking to deprive him of his Life,
after he had deflowt'd his Daughter under the pretence of Mar
riage. And concluding, he told the King, that he was the
true Monarch of Georgia, and therefore he demanded of his
Majefty Juftice, and the Reftitution of his Eftate.
But Mehrou had contriv'd a fecurer way then this, to revenge
himfelf upon Luar^ab, which was to kindle in the Heart of
AI > as an A liter ion for Luwz.ah 's Sifter ; one of f he moft lovely
Perfons in all Georgia 5 whofe Beauty has been celebrated by
all the ferfian Poets. Inlbmuch that in they fing to this
Day the Songs that render'd her Beauty renown'd above all
the Charming Beauties of her time, containing a plealant Ro
mance of the Amours between and Her Name of
Baptilm was Darejan. But the Fici ions give her the
Name of Pebry. Mehrou therefore took all opportunities to
talk of her to Abas with all the Artificial Language he could in
vent, to inflame his defires. Thereupon lent to demand
her of Luar'z.ab firft by one AmbalTador, and then by another.
The firft was fent back with fair promiles; the lecond receiv d
for Anfwer, that the Princeis had affiane'd her ielf to
King of Kal^et , who was then a Widower But the
more enflam d by thele refufals, lent a third Ambaflador to
Luar'z.ab, charging him to demand his Sifter with all manner
of fair promiies and foul Threats: and he wrote at the fame
tune to Taimuras, not to Marry Sifter, but to come
