" and imprints the Seals of his affeAion toward lis, and teftifies
" that whatever hearts without hirrtlelf, he does it all for the
"greateft good of Mankind, in regard that Infinite Being is the
" beftof all that do beft.
Thefe are their Expreffions, and very near the fenfe of the firft
Head, which lafts fome half a tjuarter of an hour.
" The fecondHead is called, Nead Berpegamherhou ve doua/ck
" Imaam j The Vralfe, Remembrance, Aknowledgmmt
" 'Prophet, and of the twelve 'Defendants
" And therefore it contains nothing more than the Acclama-
<' tions and Benedidions which they give to perlbns which
" their fuperftition has rendred Venerable among them; That
<£ you are the Fourteenth whom God has chofen pure and unble-
" mifhed; That he has made them fiicceffively Lords of all
" Mortals. That the Faith is not entire, if together with the
" Confeffion of the Divinity we do not likewile acknowledge
" the lending of thefe Fourteen to be lawful, upon whom the
" Heavenly lights are fhed down, to give light to wandring
" fouls, and to fhew to all the way of Truth. Therefore we
" are obliged to glorifie them, to celebrate their Prailes, towifli
" for their perpetual Welfare and Peace, and to their Family on
" Earth all manner of prolperity: that their names may be ex-
" alted above all Created 'Beings. That Curies may be heaped
" upon their Enemies. And that all the Men in the Univerfe
" may be lead away, and become dull at their Door. With
feveral other Willies of the fame nature, which I have rendered
as much word for word as is poffible.
The third Head is that Royalty is of divine Inftitution. Sel-
temet e^Hokkam h^pda, that is, that
Upon which they obferve, " That fince God created the World,
" he has always governed his People by Prophets, and in their
44 ftead by Kings, whom he has eftablifbed their Succeflburs.
" That Kings are the Zel-Alla, or the fhadow of God j which
" is that which we call the Image But the word Image is
luch an Expreffion as they abhor as Idolatrous,, a Term which
they dare not make ufe of; believing at the fame time, that they
likened God to any Image,they fuppofed him at the fame time to
be Corporeal. They added withal,
"That as at all times we are obliged to ferre God, and to
" obey him, not only by the light and underftanding which
" Heaven has infufed into us at our Birth, but by the Revela-
" tions which we have had from his Prophets, who havede-
