The letter concerns a firmaun [ firman A Persian word meaning a royal order or decree issued by a sovereign, used notably in the Ottoman Empire (sometimes written ‘phirmaund’). ] the Resident has received from Prince Hoosain Ali Meerza [Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā], which requested assistance for Mahomed Hoosain Beg who is travelling to Calcutta. It explains that the Resident has used the opportunity to draw the Prince's attention to the neglect that he has shown to his office; the substance of this letter is enclosed, see f 77.
