About this record
- Content
The Resident is reporting that he has received a proposal from Shaikh Mahomed [Muḥammad] and Shaikh Ahmed [Aḥmad], sons of the late Ex Chief of Bahrain, Abdool ben Ahmed [Shaikh ‘Abdullāh bin Aḥmad Āl Khalīfah]. The proposal is for the current ruler of the island, Shaikh Mahomed ben Khuleefa [Muḥammed bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah].
It explains that the proposal is that they will drop their schemes for the reconquest of Bahrain, and that in return they would like the revenue of three, or four of their patrimonial villages; they have requested that the British transport them to the Arabian coast if the proposal is refused. It notes that the Resident has recommended that the Shaikh of Bahrain accepts the proposals.
