Philosophical treatise on the soul by Abū Manṣūr Bakr ibn al-Qāsim ibn Abī Thawr al-Mawṣilī (أبو منصور بكر بن القاسم ابن أبي ثور الموصلي) written for his teacher Abū ‘Uthmān Sa‘īd ibn Ya‘qūb al-Dimashqī (أبو عثمن سعيد بن يعقوب الدمشقي; d. early 10th century).
Begins (f. 6r, lines 2-4):
من بكر بن القسم (!) ابن أبي ثور الموصلي إلى أستاذه أبي عثمن سعيد بن يعقوب
الدمشقي. سلام عليك كتبت إليك وعيشي منذ فارقت
طلعتك غرام وضيائي ظلام وصحتي سقام ويقظتي أحلام من بلد قد أنتن ماؤه
Ends (f. 12r, lines 24-26):
... وقرأت على صديقنا الراجع
عن رهينته (؟) الكذب بهذا الرأي في النفس المقيم على نصرة رأي من رأى العقل
غير باق بعد الموت السلم كثيرًا وانا والله إليه مشتباق
