Anglo-Persian concession at Qatar would, under the Red
Line agreement, have to be thrown open to the Iraq^
petroleum Company. It appears that Petroleum Derelopment
(Qatar) Limited is a subsidiary of Petroleum Concessions
Limited, which is in turn almost identical with the
Iraq Petroleum Company, There can presumably "be no
difficulty, therefore, about granting His Majesty's
Government's formal approval: but before we do so perhaps
you would kindly confirm that the Petroleum Department
concur and that Petroleum Development (Qatar) Ltd., is
in fact a Company which we can let the Anglo-Iranian say
is "known to and approved by His Majesty's Government".
