Letter enclosing correspondence concerning the rate of pay to be drawn by the Assistants at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. during those periods where they were acting in appointments which were notified in the Government Gazette.
The correspondence draws attention to a ruling by the Accountant General which states that in order for such officers to receive full pay during acting appointments they must be appointed 'substantive pro tempore' and requesting that they be granted this until such time as a First Assistant Resident is appointed to the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. .
