Letter regarding the Anti-Slavery engagements which the various Sovereigns and Trucial Chiefs of the Countries near the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. had agreed to; the understanding that these engagements were personal ones signed by the Trucial Chiefs and would not be applicable to any heirs or successors; and the renewed assurances from these Chiefs of their intentions to abide by the engagements.
The letter also reports that the British Agent on the Arab Coast had personally visited several of these Chiefdoms following these renewed assurances and had found them to be free of imported slaves.
The letter concludes by enclosing the reply from the Sultan of Muscat on being approached regarding the engagement as well as correspondence with the Persian Slave Commissioner at Bushire.
