Letter enclosing an authenticated translated section of a letter from the Chief of Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi] acknowledging his engagement against the importation of slaves.
The letter also reports that the Sultan of Muscat Seyyid Torkee [Turki bin Said Al-Said] had issued a proclamation and fully intended to keep up his engagement too.
Enclosed with the letter is a translated purport of a letter from Shaikh Zaed ben Khalifa [Zayid bin Khalifah], Chief of Aboothabee sent to the Acting Resident, Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. 5 Mohurram [Muharram] 1290 (5 March 1873) confirming his willingness to continue complying with the engagement.
