The letter is a covering letter, relating to the shipwreck and plunder of the cargo vessel Fath-el-Khymer off the Oman coast. The letter encloses an extract of paragraph 23 from a despatch from the Honourable Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. (folio 218), dated 17 of January 1855. The despatch acknowledges the recent shipwreck and plunder of the Fath-el-Khymer , adding that the Court awaits the outcome of representations to the Imam of Muscat.
