Content

The letter relates to the grounding and plunder of a cargo of coal from a vessel at Rasel Hudd [Ra’s al Ḥadd], off the Oman coast. Anderson acknowledges receipt of Kemball’s letter and requests that he write to the chief of Joalan about the incident, whose subjects are alleged to have committed the piracy. Anderson instructs Kemball to remonstrate with the chief, and warn him that he would be held responsible for the loss incurred in any future incidents.
