Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Bushire, encloses a letter (not included) from His Royal Highness the Prince of Shiraz [Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. ], which was brought to Bushire by Hadjee Zoorab Khan, who also brought with him a khillat [khilat] to mark Stannus's appointment at Resident at Bushire.
