In this letter Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Bushire, informs William Newnham, Chief Secretary to Government, Bombay, that he has forwarded two packets, received on 21 April 1824, from Mr Willock to the Honourable Governor, Mountstuart Elphinstone. In addition, Stannus states that he has transmitted a dispatch from Captain Robert Taylor, Resident at Bussora [Basra], which was received on 24 April.
