Last folio of a letter from George William Macauley, possibly to General John Jacob, relating a journey which Macauley is undertaking in India and the need to travel through the hills if asked to return. Also referred to in the letter are instructions or orders which have not been received.

The reverse of the letter contains a pencil note from John Jacob to Lewis Pelly regarding a letter which he had sent to Pelly the previous day.
