Letter forwarding letter No.69 of 1870 from Captain Charles Henry Harrison and Colonel Phayre's response No.1242 of 1870 as well as requesting whether Colonel Merewether still wished him to forward a letter to His Highness the Khan of Khelat [Kalāt].

• Letter No. 69 of 1870 from Captain Charles Henry Harrison, Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Khelat to Colonel Robert Phayre, Political Superintendent, Frontier Upper Sind, 27 August 1870, informing the Colonel that he had been advised by his medical attendent to take a few days leave from official duty and that during that period His Highness the Khan of Khelat had adjudicated on a case for which he had recommended a highly distasteful form of punishment which he had already carried out before Captain Harrison had been able to return to Khelat. The correspondence gives details of Harrison's expression of disgust at the proceedings that had occured, the Khan's explanation of the events, and a further statement from Harrison to the Khan regarding barbarity of that kind not being tolerated in civilised society and demonstrating how distasteful Harrison found the form of punishment employed.
• Letter No.1242 of 1870 from Colonel Robert Phayre, Political Superintendent, Frontier Upper Sind, Jacobabad to Captain Charles Henry Harrison, Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Khelat, 3 September 1870 expressing his sympathy with the feelings given by the Captain in his letter No.69 and supporting the advice which he had imparted to the Khan.
