Content

Letter regarding a request for assistance from Charles Alison in regards to a pension for the sons of a late agent, and Pelly's opinion that the wording of a recent Government resolution may prevent him providing assistance. The letter also discusses the pension in relation to two unmarried daughters of the Nawab An honorific title; an official acting as a provincial deputy ruler in South Asia; or a significant Muslim landowner in nineteenth century India. , whom Pelly intends to write a moving letter on behalf of in the hopes of obtaining a grant for them.

The letter also discusses recent assaults on the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. by the Sarbauz? and the inconvenience and irritability being caused by the attacks.
