Letter thanking Pelly for his kindness in recommending him for the position at the Foreign Office working alongside Charles Umpherston Aitchison.

The letter goes on to give news from Rajpootana [Rājasthān] including Frederick Augustus Hugh Elliott who had commenced his leave by breaking his leg; a badminton match consisting of Foreign Office versus Rajpootana Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and complimenting Charles Aitchison's playing ability; and Mrs Edith Saunders (wife of Colonel Leslie Saunders) having contracted rheumatic fever.

The letter concludes by informing Pelly that Lukdeer Sing [Kunwar Lakhdir Singh] has been causing problems and refusing to pay tribute to the new Maharaja of Alwar, Mungal Singh [Mangal Singh Prabhakar]; and that he has passed his arabic exam.
