About this record
- Content
Letter regarding an application with annexes from Gujariand Vithal who is requesting a Jaghir to be granted by the Baroda State and a larger grant of land than has been given to him following his service to the British Government.
The letter also reports on the rewards that have already been granted to Gujariand for his services in Baroda and stating that it does not appear he has been mistreated by the Government and that he (Melvill) feels he cannot put the request before Government in relation to his Baroda services.
The letter concludes by discussing the procedures for applying for a memorial in relation to services during the Mutiny, and suggesting that as Gujariand will be employed at Baroda for several months yet it may be more appropriate to consider a further award for him on his departure.
