Letter informing Pelly that he had not wished to reply to his letter until he had seen Lord Salisbury and that owing to the weather he had not been able to until that day.

The letter goes on to recount his meeting with Lord Salisbury on Pelly's behalf in which Pelly's current position was discussed and Lord Salisbury's help enlisted in attempting to persuade Lord Lytton to re-employ him in India.
