  • difficulties for local Chief's in handling complaints relation to the practices of their predecessors
  • the current Maharaja and difficulties with him

  • the oppressive conducts of certain individuals who dispose of cases based on their own ideas of justice
  • the jealousy and animosity caused by the elevated position of Lal Singh
  • the mistreatment of the son of a former ruler
  • animosities from appointments of certain individuals to high positions
  • the influence of the Baid family
  • attempts to estrange the Maharajah from British Officers

Physical characteristics

Conservation: The letter was originally tied together with pink wool which was removed to enable the letter to be read fully, and the letter placed in an acid-free paper folder instead. The wool tie was placed at the rear of the folder in a plastic sleeve.
