Letter explaining his intentions in submitting General John Dobrée Woollcombe's letter requesting siege guns for Nusseerabad [Nasīrābād] in order to handle a situation at Futtehgurh [Fatehgarh] and that garrison artillery would not be required as well as outlining the possible scenarios where the weapons would be required.
Enclosed with the letter are copies of previous correspondence in relation to the matter:
- Letter from John Dobrée Woollcombe, Nusseerabad to Lewis Pelly, 20 October 1872 outlining what military capacity he did and did not have and recounting past instances where heavy artillery had been used and detailing what his requirements would be (ff 126-127).
- Letter from Lewis Pelly, Camp Agra to Charles Umpherston Aitchison, 25 October 1873, sending him John Dobrée Woollcombe's unofficial letter of 20 October and supporting its conclusions as well as giving cases of his own where such weaponry would be required (ff 124-125).
