About this record
- Content
Letter regarding a memo relating to Pelly's accounts and the sale of his stores, which has not been as succesful as he would have liked owing to the perishable stores having to be destroyed and the ability to purchase cheap wine and liquor from England impacting on local sellers.
The letter goes on to discuss the improving economy of Bushire now that grain is being allowed to be exported; the furnitire at Subzabad which he believes was there when Pelly took over the property and had belonged to Captain Jones so could therefore be given to Mr Malcolm; arranging the return of some books to Mr Lucas; his inability to sell Pelly's croquet set; and 46 dozen bottles of Shiraz wine which are currently unsold.
The letter also refers to a bill of charge which Pelly has asked Edwards to draw up relating to the cost of Edwards arranging for Pelly's play The Tragedy of Imam Hussein to be translated, and the rate at which Edwards is able to arrange for it to be copied.
The letter also refers to a list of headings for each scene of the play, and some photographs as being enclosed, however they are not included with the letter.
