Letter confirming that once the East African Special Mission is concluded he will proceed to Constantinople to confer with Sir Philip Francis in order to prepare a draft of an Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. on the subject of consular jurisdiction in Persia and the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
The letter goes on to confirm that the framing of the Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. will take into account the views of the Government of India, laid out in Despatch No.10 of 24 January 1873 and regarding his having learned from the Acting Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. at Zanzibar that the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. has been placed under the direct control of the Government of India.
