About this record

Content

Letter asking if one of the steamers from the Abyssinia expedition could be sent for use in the Gulf as May Frere is unsuited to the work in the Gulf and suggesting that should a steamer be available it could bring barrack material and tanks for use at Bassidore and elsewhere.

The letter also discusses affairs in Persia and the settling of the Bunder Abbass [Bandar Abbas] affair.

The letter concludes by informing the Viceroy that the Abyssinian War has been much talked about in the Gulf region and should the rumours of victory be true Pelly will have salutes fired and the flag staff dressed.
