Letter regarding an examination undertaken by Phayre of the records of the office of political superintendent in order to give an historical outline of the principal events that have occured from the start of the current Khan of Kelat [Kalāt] (Khodadad Khan) 's reign in 1844 until now.
Enclosed with the letter is an 'abridged narrative of events' in regards to arrangements with the Murrees and other tribes on the frontier and the state of British relations with the Khan of Kelat and his chief's and people. The narrative is based upon treaties, reports and correspondence from a number of individuals including Brigadier General John Jacob, Sir William Lockyer Merewether, Sir Henry Green and Captain Charles Henry Harrison and provides an almost monthly account of events from May 1854 until November 1869.
