The covering letter encloses a copy of a despatch sent from the Edward Clive Bayley, Under Secretary to the Government of India to the Governor General, dated 22 October 1850. The despatch concerns the recent hostiles of the Governor of Muscat Thuwaini bin Said, against the Chief of Suhar. The Under Secretary writes that his Lordship (the Governor General of India) 'entirely concurs' in the view of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. upon the matter. The Under Secretary goes on to state that the instructions already delivered to the Resident of the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. are 'judicious and sufficient.'
