Maritime view in the Red Sea, at the northwest of the Bab el-Mandeb strait, of Gibel Tir [Jebel Al-Tair], meaning ‘bird mountain’.

Temporal context:

This drawing was likely made during Henry Yule’s return journey to India with his new wife, Anna Maria White, in 1844.
