dated the 23rd Au&ust 1945.
The two firms who offered to supply the
material for the town water supply scheme,
Holloways and Dormon Long, have been asked to
submit up-to-date prices for pumps, engines,
tanks etc. The last tenders were in 1941. They
have also been asked whether they would be prepared
to undertake the actual construction work in Bahrain,
which I consider is essential as we possess no
suitable plant. I have informed Messrs. Holloways
that I will contact them in London.
V/e cannot yet determine the quantity of piping
which will be required as the very large scale map
of Manama has only just been completed and without
this the detailed lay out cannot be plotted. It is
proposed however that the pump, tanks etc., should
be ordered now and the piping as soon as quantity
is known.

Much of this correspondence is between Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Government of Bahrain, and the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain.
A copy of a Government of Bahrain public notice regarding the installation of the water supply is contained on folio 13.
The file also contains letters from R M Brown, the Chief Local Representative of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), as the company was commissioned to conduct the analysis of the water supplied by the new water scheme.
