Copy of the written guarantee, given to Damodur Trimbuck Nenay, Private Secretary to His Highness the Gaekwar of Baroda (Malharrao), that he would be granted a free pardon and immunity to his person and property on condition that he provided evidence concerning the attempt to poison Colonel Robert Phayre, late Resident at Baroda and any other unlawful acts that the Gaekwar of Baroda, and others, had been involved in.
Enclosed with the guarantee is a translation of an order issued by Mulharrao, Gaekwar of Baroda regarding the amount and method of payment to Damodur Trimbuck Nenay for his services as Private Secretary. The translation was produced by the Tudnis, Dufsurdar of the Gaekwar's Durbar A public or private audience held by a high-ranking British colonial representative (e.g. Viceroy, Governor-General, or member of the British royal family). .
